As promised...
Here's the full recipe for my Stove Top Potpourri.
- One granny smith apple, sliced and cored
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 2 cups water
2. Add dry ingredients.
3. Add apple slices one at a time to help incorporate spices.
4. Continue boiling for 1 minute.
5. Reduce heat and simmer.
6. Check water level in pan periodically throughout the day, adding more as necessary.
As I mentioned in my blog post, there are several online recipes for fall (and holiday!) stove top potpourri. I adapted mine oh-so-slightly from one I found in this article entitled, "Fall Decorating on a Budget." I've also found great-looking variations that use cranberries, orange peels, and other yummy scents. So if this one doesn't fit your style, spend a few minutes online to find one that hits the mark.
I love this recipe because I know exactly what's in the potpourri and, as important, what's not in it, and I'm not at all worried about my little guy enjoying the scent of his mommy's concoction. :)
